There was a post like this a while back. Try searching for it in that forum. Good luck.

Start with an angling resume and maybe start with local/smaller sponsors in your home town. Choose companies who's products you are familiar with and use. These just as a start.

Add a cover letter that introduces who you are and explains what you can do to market their products in a way that will increase sales and what you expect in return. Start small. Both with what you're asking for and what you promise to do in return.

All you REALLY have to do is put on one of the best shows on Fox Sports North and Midwest... and the sponsors will come looking for you...

Right James? (great show by the way)

Yeah, that wouldn't hurt.

I can still remember my first contact with a potential sponsor over a decade ago. St. Croix Rods.

Two things to add that I think are important. First - Most fishing/hunting related companies are approached daily from guys looking for a hand-out. They took first place in a tournament so..."give me a boat". That will not work unless your KVD. As mentioned, start small and local. My best sponsors are the ones that I have spent years developing a relationship with. So my advise here is understand it is a slow process.

Second is be reasonable in your wants. If your sponsored by a local tackle/bait shop, they may want you to work a Saturday to demonstrate rigging plastics and Q&A time. In return, it might be a minimal amount of cash and significat discount on products through him. But in order for the shop owner to be willing to give anthing, he/she will need to see a benifit to themselves before giving you anything.

Good luck!
