The area guides will point you in the right direction for fish and seriously these kids don't care what they catch. They just love having the chance to be out in a boat on the water fishing.

Thanks guys. We still NEED ALOT MORE people to sign up to help so please add your name to the list. We tend to take fishing for granted as we get out on the water alot during the year but for some kids this may be the only time they can get out in a boat fishing. I would hate to see children sitting on shore watching others leave the dock to go fishing and they can't because there was nobody to take them. YOU can make a difference in a childs life.

Bill, my employer approved my day off so I can be included as a boater. Does anyone have an extra seat/with base that fits in a newer alumacraft (2003 or newer) boat that I could borrow down there. I only have 2 seats. I have used a chair in the past, but a seat would be nicer.

Bill - was out of the country for 2 weeks and just got back, sorry for the delay but if you are still in need of boaters, I am planning on being there with my boat and my good friend/fishing buddy is going to be there with his boat. his name is Roger Nunn and mine is Micah Witham. I assume there is one kid per boat. is that correct or will there be more than that?

Hey Bill what time do the boaters need to be there, and about what time do we get off the water at and when do people generally start leaving? I'd like to help out, but I'm a tad concerned because I work midnights that week, and I need to sleep at some point, Can you also tell me what the boaters need to provide? Anything more than lifejackets rods and reels, I'm not concerned about providing anything, I'd just like to make sure I have it.

I'll venture the "guess" you are needed, I think there is suppose to be 50 kids. and were under 40 boats now.

If your on the fence about being a boater for tommorow, join in folks. It is a great time. You dont need to be a river guru to make these kids day. You dont need to be a expert on find a cetian species either. Alot of these kids are happy to catch anything. Which shouldnt be to hard to do this time fo year.
Other activities that make the kids days are cruzing around. Supervized driving of the boats. Exploring shoreline. Locking threw the dam. Checking out the huge barges as they come buy. Shore lunch back at everts at noon is always a big hit. Dont forget to spend some time explaining to the kids how to fish, tie knots, talk about the types of fish you catch, how to use different lures and tackle, and be sure to show them how to use the new poles and tackle they get.
This will be my 4th year fishing this event and I look forward to it ever year. I think it alot more about the quality of the experiance than getting these kids on fish. Hope to see all of you down there. You will make a kids day.
