The Chetek Chain of Lakes at IDOfishing.com

First of all I am not an ice fisherman, but I went to Chetek today to check out the action. I did not see a sole on the ice until I drove past the landing by the airport. There was 2 portable shanties set up at the mouth of Baptist Bay and believe it or not, there was a truck parked next to one of the shanties - there is 14' of water where that truck was. Heck I wouldn't even walk on that ice unless I was following my mother in law and she didn't go through - of course if she didn't go through it would be safe enough to drive on.

There was also a small group of guys with tip ups set up near the landing. I stopped at the Rod and Gun and the young man there said that there is 6" of ice out there for those of you wondering.

All I can say is with the amount of open water I saw, please be careful if you go out.
