Mille Lacs Lake Smallmouth Trip

#486236 - 03/03/07 12:01 AM

While reading James’s post about Brandon, his family, and the foundation I got a lump in my throat. Immediately after I finished reading it, my kids asked if I would play with them; something Brandon’s parents would never hear. The lump got bigger; I knew right then and there I had to do something-anything.

I am offering a trip to the famous Mille Lacs Lake and its world class smallmouth fishery. This trip is for one angler. We will primarily be sight fishing. Seeing 18 to 20+ inch smallies is a truly exciting fishing experience. We have a decent chance of seeing walleyes, northern pike, as well as a huge muskie or two. If this sounds like something you would like to do OR just want to learn more smallmouth fishing spots, here is your chance.

I will supply: boat, gas, camera, St. Croix rods, Shimano reels, lifejackets, Costa Del Mar polarized sunglasses, lures and I will even buy lunch at Hunters Resort. You are welcome to bring your own rods and tackle, if you want. The only thing that you need to bring is a valid MN fishing license. The length of the trip will be all day. The best months are June and July, a day with light or no wind. My days are flexible, so if we pick a day and then they forecast a storm or high winds, we can reschedule for a better day. I prefer weekdays but can do some weekends.

This trip is for YOU the winning bidder and all proceeds will go to Brandon’s Foundation.

I also will make a CD with pictures of you and your catch and mail it to you.
This auction ends Tues 3/6/07 at 7PM.

The winner of this Smallie trip, will be in for a great day of learning, and catching.
I shared Ron's boat with him last June, and had a great time on Mille Lacs.
Ron KNOWS the lake and he KNOWS Smallmouth, Bring alot of good questions, and above all else, You'll have a great time.

I am a walleye guy at heart, but everytime Ron calls I jump at the chance to catch those Mille Lacs pigs. It is always a good time. Sight fishing the rock piles on Mille Lacs is a blast. Not only are there multiple smallie sightings, but tons of other aquatic life, rocks bigger than the boat, old depth finders, golf balls, tires, and many other things. This trip should be educational and exciting for whomever wins.

Thanks for the nice words Dan.
At least we, as a team, are better at chasing smallies THEN ice-fishing for walleyes.

I know of no other lake in MN that offers the sheer number of potential trophy smallies than Mille Lacs. Other than maybe Dee Zee's stretch of the river...

Last summer I was fishing with the interm fishing dept manager at the Woodbury Sportsmans Warehouse. He wanted to know about bass fishing and if I could hook him up with someone that could take him out. Ron came to mind immedeatly.

The manager called me after the trip to thank me for setting him up with Ron. The photos are still at the fishing dept desk at Sportsmans Warehouse!

Ron's been fishing this lake for years and I would not hesitate to call him a Mille Lacs smallie expert.

Congrats to the winner of this auction, you'll be a winner by not only getting an awesome trip, but by helping out an awesome cause!

I will get the check in the mail this evening when I get home from work. I look forward to spending some time on the water with you Ron. Since Mille Lacs is so far from my home this will be my first time on the lake, I have been looking for an excuse to get up there, now I have one. I look forward to hooking up with some of those sumo smallies I keep seeing you guys report on. I'll be in touch to set up the trip.
