Sales Meeting

#493036 - 03/13/07 08:38 PM

My company has a "sales meeting" scheduled on West Okoboji in late July. I have never been on the water and although there is plenty of time to learn stuff, I could use a basic jump start for smallies and largemouth bass. Who can help?

If you like pitching docks you'll be in heaven. Okoboji has many types of structures, I live there and dont fish it all in a season. Nice points, deep rock reefs, plenty of weeds. I'm not a bass guy only catch them on accident while Musky fishing. I mainly fish Spirit for walleye but we always get a few smallies. Boji I only fish Muskies during open water and Ice fish it during winter. As time gets closer, bring this back up I'll help with what I can.

Dick, We'll be posting a few reports over the next couple months. Keep checking back and I'm sure you'll find some helpful info.

West Okoboji is full of rocks and docks. Finding bass at the end of July won't be very difficult. Get a good map if you don't already have one. The 2007 Navionics Premium North chip has West Okoboji and Spirit Lake in one foot contours if you like electronic mapping. One thing you'll have to deal with is the pleasure boaters. It gets BAD. That time of year, I either fish Spirit or I get off West Okoboji by 11am. Good luck and check back.
