Does anyone know what happend to this access? The one that is marked as public water access on this map:
Grey Cloud Access - Mississippi River.
The last time I used it was well over 10 years ago. Happend to be down in the area yesterday and drove by it to check the conditions possibly use it soon. The access road was closed and marked Private - No Trespassing. Someone actually dumped a load of fill at the road making it impossible to drive over.
Just curious as to what happend and why. Any help is appriciated. Just hate the thought of losing public access.

That has been shut down for a while now Jon. You may want to try Willies or the Spring Lake access.

I would be suprised if there is still anyplace a person can even shore fish there. Exclusivity has pretty much closed that island down. There were two bridges that could be fished. I'll have to ride down there and see.

The land that the access is on is actually private land. The land owner granted easment for public access for several years until it was too difficult for the city and county to patrol and keep clean.
Nearest access now is either Hastings public access or St Paul Park.
Good Luck!

There were spots for a couple cars to park by both bridges. Only one guy fishing yesterday.

I like taking the shortcut and shooting over the side cut to get to Baldwin Lake and then run that straight to Grey Cloud Slough with a couple quick turns near the end, its a much straighter line and saves lots of time......

I was wrong. There are still a couple places to park and access water by foot. Pelicans were in there today.

Spring lake access would be a quick straight shot accross over to Grey clound othrwise I would use St. Paul Park. Alittle bit of a run but it would beat going through the dam.

I havent done it in years. Can you still squeeze under the road down there? Check google earth and you will see the cut at the upstream side of the lake. I used to use it alot when I duck hunted up there.

True I forgot about that. Been along time. It use to be a tight fit with the old bass boat and they sit low in the water.

St Paul Park has a real nice public access. It is next to Willies. From there you can go down stream to Grey Cloud Island.

And to think I was going to give you poop for trying to hijack my thread.
Looks like shore fishing would be out of the question with the water low. From what I can see on Google earth, there are possibly some backwater areas, but that isn't what I want to hit with the water down.
