Rod &Reel Donations

#534780 - 06/07/07 01:42 PM

Hello IDAers,
as you know we are on a path leading up to the A.R.M. benefit on Friday, June 22. Besides a day on the water, we look forward to sending the kids home with a rod and reel combo to take advantage of the ARM event and hopefully, future outings!

The generosity of sponsors has made it possible to get some rod and reel combos but not enough for
all the kids.

Now the final push is on. We are asking those of you who have a rod and reel combo or even a rod or a reel (which we’ll combine for a complete combo), to donate it to the A.R.M. event.
You can also buy one and donate it. We have asked some local retailers to set up drop-offs at their locations,

Frigo Chiopractic, Menomonie Wi 715-235-2533,
Hooked on Fishing, Rochester MN 507-282-4982<<,
Jimmy's Bait and Tackle, Stillwater MN 651-460-2550<<,
Moores Bait and Tackle, Mpls MN 612-861-7412<<,
and
Everts Resort, near Redwing, MN 715-792-2333<<.

Previous rod and reel donations have been generous but because we have such limited resources in regards to time and bodies, we have some specific requests regarding the equipment to be donated. Most importantly the rod/reel/combos can be used but should be in excellent or like new condition. Your donation should be that extra rod/reel/combo that just doesn’t quite fit with you, perhaps it doesn’t match your other rods or boat color. Please make sure the reels are in working order. If you are fortunate enough to have an extra, lightly used, next to new rod/reel/combo at your disposal, now is your chance to donate it to a great cause.

Thank you to everyone who has committed to this event. Whatever the effort, you’re making a difference and are greatly appreciated. We hope to see you on June 22.

Dean,

Sorry I didn't get a hold of you sooner, but we have purchased 10 zebco rod and reel combos to donate to the ARM event, also, I have been collecting the orange life jackets (kid size) at various clean thrift sales, so I have a little over 1/2 dozen of those you can have. We would also like to donate a cargo carrier (the tyoe you put in your trailer hitch), that you can use either for a door prize, raffle, whatever you want to do with it. If you need more rod/reel combos, I'll see if I can find more........unless there are some other IDAers that are planning on bringing in some and just haven't contacted you yet. I'll keep watching this post to see how your donation list is going.

Let me know if there is anything else we can do to help out.
June and Jim

Last year I brought two older, good condition rods and reels with me for the event. I spooled both with yellow/green or orange Suffix line.

One of the kids had a pole and one did not. The orange line really caught the youngest boys attention as he chose to use that the entire day. Since he didn't have a pole, I let him take it home at the end of the day.

Just another idea that seems to work great as a gift and is appreciated by the littles and bigs.

See ya on the 22nd.

Dean,

Why don't you throw me down for a $50 donation to this event. I won't be down this weekend, but will get it to you next weekend. Use this for rods/reels or anything else you need for the event.

For those of you who have not done this in the past, it is a great event to help a kid become involved with fishing. I was hesitant at first, but have done it for the last 3 years and will do it again next year. I have yet to meet a bad person there, and everyone is excited to help out with any questions or problems that may come up.

Thanks,
Brent

Dean, the young angler that shares my boat for the day will be going home with a new rod and reel combo. I'll toss in an extra $20 to help cover the purchase of combos for our other guests.

Looking forward to another great day on the water!

Mankato's bait shop the BOBBER SHOP FISHING LLC donated one set of rod/reels for the ARM event. And, they helped out with a second set too. Please thank them the next time you're in there! MIKE
