Today we decided to try anglers bay in the morning for a while and got out there at about 7:30. We were the first ones there and not many other people showed up through the morning. A LOT of perch moving through but about 80% of them were no bigger then my pinky. The Big ones were there also. The problem we had was there would be jumbo perch down there but there would ten ten little ones around your bait fighting for it and the big ones would not go after it. We still managed to keep the little ones away to come home with 44 perch!! It was a good day to get on the lake and then come home and get ready for Christmas!!!
We caught a bunch in Smits a few weeks ago but saw there was about 45 houses there tonighht at about 4:30. I'm not a panfisherman but Lil E, in the weeds on Millers. Lil Millers all should have fish. I'm fishing Millers 15' and deeper all I'm seeing is perch, eyes and a few snot rockets.
We were trying for walleyes for one day there and we seen a lot of walleyes but we could not get them to bite. Is there any trick to get them to bite? We fish Okoboji all the time in the spring and summer and have very good luck but we can never get them to bite through the ice.
So, what's the secret to getting the eyes to bite for you Shaley? Is it the time of day for the most part or the bait/jig/spoon or what? It's always nice to hear of a proven system. Thanks!
I think luck plays a big part. Go Devils and big shiners have been doing well. A few on salmos and jigging raps. Most have come after 4 pm and on into the night. I have caught them in 20' up as shallow as 12' one depth doesn't seem better than another, biggest thing is be on the sand betweeen the weeds.
