My brother and I are coming up next weekend and are considering fishing the Whitefish Chain. Has anyone been out here recently and if so how much ice is there on average. I have never fished this lake in the winter and am not sure where we should go out of. I'm still not sure where we are going to fish, but most likely the lower section. Any reports would be nice too!
I just talked to my buddy who fishes the upper part of the chain. He reports 10-12" of ice, a good daytime pike bite and an excellent dusk crappie bite.
Ohhhh, big trout always calls me, I think I'd have to try my hand trout fishing Our cabin is up there, but we close it down for winter. Can't really help you, just though I'd mention and Idea that's been floating around my head awhile.
