Were you on the east side of the bay? And about how deep of water? And im guessing you were in some weeds? I havent ice fished there too much and not at all this year.

Yeah we didn't stay there long. We are just not used to fishing panfish in that deep of water.

I just got back from the area. First tried Emerson and got a few. Hit Millers near both groups of houses. Didnt catch or see anything there . Hit Anglers and got a few more.

Today I tried Anglers Bay and caught 1. Very slow weekend for me..OH yeah, tried the north bay too. Was in about 12-14 ft. saw them but they wouldnt bite, even on 1lb line and tiny jigs. Also I always hear about finding green weeds when sight fishing. After drilling a couple hundred holes, ive only found brown. Anyone have some tips??

I was in 17' North Bay no weeds whatsoever, got enough gills for a slim meal. Arctic High always hurts the bite. Barometer never got below 30.40 all weekend. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Bite on Spirit I have heard is somewhere in 21' between Buffalo and Marble, exact locations not been shared with me yet. Heard 2 guides put clients on limits in this general area over the weekend.

Yeah the weather wasn't ideal. Were the reports you heard from Spirit on perch? I found lot's of perch on little emerson a few weeks ago. I'm more interested in the gills though. Still hunting for that 11''..

Big gills try the reef on Emerson, or the North End. We have seen them just havent gottten one to bite yet. Winter Gamews this weekend so West will be busy. The reports on Spirit were perch yes. I don't target gills much they just seem to be in my walleye holes this year. Oh well good practice for the new electric knife.

How deep were you seeing them on Emerson? I may get out on Friday. Is the reef on Emerson rocky? This is my first year fishing those lakes and they seem to have lots of potential. Seems like lots of people are still fishing gills shallow but it makes sense that they would be deeper now. Also do the crappies in these lake suspend in the deeper holes in the bays like so many other lakes? I dont see many house in the deeper holes. Thanks!

I havent ice fished Emerson yet. As for Crappies your on your own there on West more deep water than shallow so good luck. I guess this is the first time I have cayght gills deep normaly I fish them less than 10' and only after walleye closes. This year the gills just seem to be in my walleye holes.

This last weekend and on Monday we did pretty good on bluegills on west lake. Believe it or not they were in about five feet of water with LOTS of weeds. They were not to hungary that was for sure. We would catch about one out of every fifteen we would see.

The weeds are still green and for some reason they are all the big bluegills. We maybe seen two small ones all weekend.

Well at first there was only a few people there but people found out about it quick and within a few days there was people moving in the same area. There is a lot of water on that lake and you dont need to be were the other people are. I would rather not be close to people on boji because it really scares the fish out quick with everyone driving around.

Re: Okoboji Panfish

Eyes were good early, we got a few but recently its been slow. Whereabout you see the bigger muskies and whats your idea of huge?? I chase them during the summer and alwasy interested in fish we havent caught or possibly seen yet. There is 3 I have seen in that mid 50" range, 1 I had boatside in July licking my bucktail trailer on my wades.

Re: Okoboji Panfish

My idea of huge is around the 50" mark. Ive boated lots of skies with biggest being 48". Tough to judge under the ice but one that ive seen im sure was over 50".

Let me know how everyone does this weekend. I didnt make it down there this weekend because some lakes around Blue Earth are pretty hot at the moment.

I fished Spirit this weekend did ok on the perch. Big I'd be interested in hearing more about your sighting, pm me if you like. Maybe we can get her in the boat this year and a pic or maybe have already had her in the boat depending on where you saw it.

Fished yesterday caught about 15-20 gills couple perch and some nice crappies. Tiny and slow was the key. Also someone put the front of their truck through at Millers crossing a shallow point. Looks like they got it out

Did the truck go through in little millers off that point??
