I am calling all of you holcombe anglers out! WE NEED TO GET THIS FORUM UP AND RUNNING! starting next summer I will be posting weekly updates! I fish for smallies, walleyes, ski's, pike, and pretty much everything that swims. Alot of people view holcombe as an elusive fishery because it is hard to locate main lake fish. (unlike the easily predictable river brethren) THATS because the big dawgs in the main lake are out there runnin' the flats; chasin pelagic baitfish. ( Are they smelt, alewife, shad?????) regardless, next summer lets get this forum going!~!!!

Great to hear Bob, I have been working my way up the Chippewa river and have gotten as far north as Old Abe. Reports from Holcombe could prod me into going one step further north, Thanks in advance we need more reporting in this area!

Welcome to IDO Bob!
I agree, we need to hear more about Wissota's big sister to the north. Keep us posted, and don't forget your camera!

What's the status of the proposed drawdown in 2008 or 2009? I've heard that NSP is doing some major repairs to the dam and will be draining the lake to access the dam face.

I would be extremely interested in hearing any information regarding this proposed drawdown... Last summer/fall I drove up to Big falls flowage which is 2 dams up from holcombe and about 15-20 miles NE of ladysmith to check it out. They drew the lake down completely. It was basically the original river with a little bit of excess water in the basin around the dam. It was so cool to be able to see structure that I had fished and take pictures of it. I could only imagine what Holcombe would look like drawn down. It is hard to imagine with all of the lake homes and resort businesses that they would do something like that in the heat of the summer.
