Got what seems to be a mass e-mail from a "Kevin" today at my-fishing-report.com offering a free lure for submitting a report.
I went to the site to check it out, looks pretty interesting, and is a great idea. So i proceeded to sign up, but before i submitted my membership, i read in the Terms and Agreement that they reserve the right to charge a fee for this membership and it's at their discretion, so obviously, i didn't become a member. No where on this site does it list a the cost of the membership.
Nice idea for a site, but pretty cheap on their part to do that. Maybe i'm missing something, but it looks like you sign up and then they bill you and unknown amount of money...
Looks like it would be a neat site, but also looks like somewhat of a scam at the same time.

Great site! It must have come a long way since initial release. I absolutely love the concept and can't wait to see it grow even bigger

Oh..OHH! I have to put my two fish bucks in here!!
I can't find the post...but I think I'm pretty close at least in the spirit of the quote.
From Mr. J Holst a few years back..."We will NEVER charge our members to access In-Depth Outdoors".
In fact...it took the Management Committee YEARS to get him to charge for classifieds. The classifieds forum was opened for our contributing members to clean out their garages ect. For years there were many that used IDO for their own personal free ebay, never posting anyplace but in the classifieds.
This uses bandwidth and cost money.
So after much thought, James came up with the Fish Buck program. Members recieve 2 FB's for every post they make in the regular forums. Whether it's your fishing report in your home are forum or a question.
These FB's could then be used as credit towards the cost of a classified ad. So the contributing member still recieve free classifieds and the IdoBay group could still use the classifieds for selling, just that they would cover the cost of their ad.
I wish I would have thought of that!

Why are we giving free advertising for this site.
Can I link a couple of Free Fishing sites that I like in this thread?>

Well Gary, that's the fine line.
It's been talked about many times. Should the mods just delete the post...the link or like some sites do, just give the poster a time out from Ido?
Doing any of the above tee's off the poster when likely he was just trying to point out "there could be a charge" for membership. Helping our members in other words.
If it was obvious this was a promotional post only, I'm sure the post would have been removed.
I can't speak for all of the management team on IDO, but I feel the less we use the heavy hand the happier everyone is and the more focused on sharing everyone stays.
...although I am trying on creating a Twins/Viking filter that returns the post back to the poster with a message...you know "post undeliverable because the new stadium can't be found"
