Anybody heading up to Sherman this weekend? I am going to fish at least Saturday morning and I believe I will have the boat to myself, so if anybody would like to hop in just say the word

New to the post...would sure like to hook up and meet some other central Nebraska fisherman. Thinking about heading up tonight and trying it on the rocks. Also thinking about taking the boat up next weekend and giving it a shot.

I'm from Doniphan. Just finished puttin' all the ice fishing stuff away and ready for the open water. I assume all the ice is off Sherman...does anyone know for sure?

All the ice is off of Sherman and I heard they started releasing water down the canal  It was REALLY cold Saturday morning with the rain and all  I was the only boat out and there were just a couple of fisherman on the dam and none of us caught any fish that I could see. The wind was a real pain and made it really tough to fish. Make sure that you use the lake side of the ramp as the marina side is not in good shape at all.

I came across this website last weekend and what a great site it is, its great to read posts on nearby lakes has anyone fished Harlan yet this spring, I just bought a boat last month and I think I will try sherman this weekend along the dam, HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK at the dam yet, better go for now and Good Luck ALL. Jim

Welcome to IDO Jim.  There are a few eyes being caught at Harlan from what I have heard. The fishing from the dam at Sherman should be good for the rest of the week. I believe it closes to bank fishing Apr 1 - Apr 15, in case you didn't know. Good luck this spring and we hope to hear some reports from you.

I saw a couple of fishermen on the rocks Monday when I went up mapping some structure. We didn't stop by to get a report but did watch intently for a while and didn't see them catch anything. There were a couple of vehicles at the inlet fishing the incoming water but again can't tell you anything about any catches.
Too early for me; another week or so for Sherman in my estimation. She warms up much slower that a lot of the lakes.

Walli There are some 'eyes being caught up at Sherman but thay are not stacked up on the dam yet. There were a LOT of shore fisherman last night and it is was nearly impossible to fish from a boat. The water is real dirty and coming up really fast too I heard one fish get caught last night but I did't stay long because there was no room for the boat with all the shore fisherman.

Thanks for the info everyone, guess I will drive the boat up close to the rocks and cut off them there lines   just kidden Trade winds opens friday so I will be out saturday, trying it during the day and see what happens. Thanks Again

I was up fishing off the rocks last night. Fished for several hours an didn't get a bite. One of the guys next to me caught one small one. No one was really sackin' them. I'm guessin' the water is still too cold and by the time the bite is on, it will be April 1st and you won't be able to fish. Still was nice just getting out and shakin' off the cob webs.

Theyll bite,Thats the way I understand it sunset to sunrise 150 feet out is no fishing,So that shuts down the boats as well.thats a good thing

They bite during the day Jigs and plastics are a good way to go when the sun is up I wish they would shut every dam down like they do Sherman but that is my own opinion

Welcome to IDO obee. I haven't made it up to Sherman yet this year. I'm hoping to get up there soon. I'd go this weekend with the nice weather but I'm headed to Minnesota to fish the Mississippi instead.

HEY obee I will be up there this weekend again. Fishing has been slow for me but a bunch of my time up there has been spent getting the new boat set up and marking structure on the new 'birds. I should be able to key a little more on the FISHING this weekend
From what I know about the last few weeks, it has been pretty slow for most but it will get better quick

Yeah, there probably won't be a lot of people talking. But being 1200 miles away, its kind of nice knowing that they may still be there in 3 weeks!!!!!

If they are there, you will be right next to me The lake has been a little behind last year as far as the water temp goes but I have not been up in about a week so I don't know what the new water coming in has done.
With the partner that you have, I don't think that you need to worry much
