Well.....  When do we start heading downtown????  I might try this Thursday. I head for Cancun Monday so I feel a need to give it a shot. I know its early for this year, but last year we were there already. It better be warm when we get back form Mexico.

I have heard of a few being caught, I got blanked myself easter afternoon for a few hours. I had a few bites, but could not hook up.
A little decent weather and the fish will turn on in a hurry. The April gathering might be great at this rate.

I got the skunk on my first six outings. Then I got one yesterday, and had a few good bites. A total of about 16 hours (and lots of bait) for one five pounder... When I look at it that way, it doesn't seem so good. But when my rod doubled over yesterday, and the hook set solid... That's when I knew that, for me, spring had sprung.

The fishing down there is always hit or miss in the spring. Even on great years one day you catch 45 fish, and the next your group catches 3?
This has been a funky weather March so far, I guess it doesnt surprise me much the fishing has started very slow. I expect very good things as the weather changes for the better. There are a lot of fish there and they will eat when the time comes.
I have had excellent success this year at other areas of the river already, but even that slowed after the last blast of snow and the temps dropped.

Since its on my way to work it is where I go to get my fix.  Suppose to cool down Thurs and Fri. Oh well I am going anyways.  I am going to Ely on Saturday. I can get a good deal on frozen bait they are trying to get rid of.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to hang out in the species specific catfish section. That might change once the season starts rolling. That' where all the chatter is though.

not the ruins but i have been bouncing around on the missippi and have managed to pull about 10 or 15 channels
