I went Sunday and fought the crappy wind off the rocks from the bank. HAd a dandy on and got it to the rocks but it fell off onto the rocks as I was bringing it up and it flopped once and so long. Would of been in the 26 inch range most likely. Also caught 1 16 inch bass. I should of had a net with me but intended on crappie fishing.

Live and learn. I guess us St. Paul guys learn through the school of hard knocks. Not saying that our times at SPHS were of no avail.

Keep after them. It couldn't have been real warm on the rocks; was it.

No, it was pretty much freezing, but when you see a Walleye like that, it makes it worth it. Their were a couple of boats who tried to fish and about got crashed into the rocks so they got out of there.

By the way, I meant to say 1 16 inch walleye up there, not bass.

1 15" eye was it and I didn't see anybody else do any better. Water was still pretty cold and coming up fast. With a bunch of snow in the forcast and nights into the 20's, the water isn't going to warm up very quick at all

Hello Fellas -
I'm new to the forum and have really appreciated your insights and information. I live in Kearney and normally fish for bass in some of the local pits and ponds. However, since I bought a boat last year (Silver '91 Sylvan with a 40 HP Johnson) I am converting to more of a crappie and walleye fisherman. It sounds like things are pretty slow right now at Sherman. Do you think I would have better luck there or possibly Johnson? Thanks again for all your help - especially fisherman Zach. BTW - I'll post my fishing report.

Water is FINALLY starting to warm up at Sherman Main lake is a constant 44 degrees but Trail 8 is quite a bit ahead of the rest of the lake and is right around 48 degrees.

Went up this morning for a little bit to mark structure with the 997si before I had to go to work and there are a few fish starting to get to the points. They are still deep but a couple of nice days with wind and they will start feeding

It is absolutly amazing to watch the 997si and see what the bottom really looks like In Trail 8, you can see the two channels that run up it to the main lake and you can see where each bend is and exactly where the sharper breaks are. I was truely amazed with what I saw!!!!!

GOOD LUCK up there

Caught a few crappie today that were very niced size but was still slow over by trail 5. Seen a guy at the boat dock who had an 8 lb 10 oz walleye caught on a night crawler. What did you catch on trail 8?

Fished Sunday from 1 - 8 at Sherman. Caught nothing. I did see a few nice stringers of crappies from guys fishing the docks in the Marina Bay. Saw a few short walleye caught along the dam. One guy pulling out had a Master Angler walleye he caught on the north end of the lake by the cabins. Overall, things were really slow.

walleye are still going at Johnson on the rocks, looks like spawns about over but we picked up 5 with the smallest being 15

Were they catching them crappie off dock or off boat?

I was able to go out this afternoon for a couple hours after School and caught 6 nice crappie keepers and had to throw 1 back. There was a guy on that Dock again, and he had to have close to his limit. How does one get to fish off that dock?

Was that the dock on the south side of the marina?

No north, the big long one that goes way out to the middle of the cove.
