Timing of Steelhead run

#665395 - 04/23/08 08:26 AM

With Spring finally here, can anyone tell me when the Steelhead are running in Northern WI. The reason I want to know is that the Longnose Suckers start right after the Steelhead and they are my target species.

Thanks

Last I heard, north shore streams like the Brule are running high, cold, and brown. That should get fish into the river but until the river settles a bit it will be hard to target them.

yer best bet is to check the USGS gauges. they will tell you floww and temps. with that info you can get a pretty good idea as to whee things are at.

i don't know if you know this, but i'm a pretty big deal.

Longnose Sucker why would you even target those things?

The longnose suckers run right after the steelhead so that is more what he is looking for.

C&B I hope to be able to get there with ya.

The steelhead are almost done in the southern WI rivers. I was catching suckers on Easter Sunday
