Every Thursday night until the end of June Anchor Inn, Newville WI will be holding a walleye tournament from 4:30 to 8:00 soon to be 8:30 when daylight last longer. Free launching for all anglers that enter. Register at the bar. $10.00 per person and $5.00 for big fish. Just a hint, most anglers are there by 4:00 and launch then come in and register and have a soda or beer then we all leave at 4:30.

Was wondering if there is an age limit to this seeing as how it is at the Anchor Inn?
|
Jeff Patrick
|
|
That is a very good question, I'll have to look into it this Thursday. I would guess there is, I would say you would have to be at least 18 if not 21.

Anything happening? Thinking about giving it a whirl this weekend. Hows the charlie bluff landing? Jeff, you've been awfully quiet this spring. Too much fishing or too much catching.

Charlie bluff landing is flooded out. Every thing is still at flood stage and no wake. Launches you might get the big rig in with help, By-pass launch or Anchor Inn. Fish are being caught on both sides. Fish have shut down a little but if you know how to adapt to the conditions you can catch fish.

I like the anchor inn launch. Ya the 20 foot ranger needs a decent launch. Had it out a few times so far and just love it. I can't beleive how quiet the 225 e-tech is. Had it up to 60 on delavan the other day. Hopefully you have report after the walleye league tonight, be nice to hook up for a sandwich if your out this weekend.

Tonight was the tourney and I think there were 8 boats. I got lucky and won with four fish that weighed 9 pounds which also had big fish that went around 3 pounds. All and all it was a great turn out for the weather.

Is this like a league tournament where you have to fish every one to be in the money? Or do you pay out at the end of the night?
|
Jeff Patrick
|
|
Big fish and a % is paid out that night and the other % is paid out after the 10 weeks. I took home over $100.00 last night the week before I took home $40.00
bait and gas fund

Mike I'm sure you could make it if you wanted to. Thursday night was a great turn out with some well known great anglers that fish lot more bigger tourneys than the Anchor Inn were there. Thursday night 3rd place went to a big white Lund with a 250 e-tech with 14 lbs which made your 225 look small and 2nd went to a big ranger with a 250 yammie with 14.5 lbs and of course we took 1st with 16 lbs bag. What was so cool about the night was my pre fish bite shut down and after wasting a hour and a half I had to go to my back up spot which we pulled all are keeper there in two hours.
Mike I'll tell you what. You open a can of worms with your statement. There's three Thursday night tourneys left, take a vacation day or call in sick one of the tourneys left and if you weigh in more than 12.9 lbs I'll buy you and your partner a steak dinner at the bar after weigh in that night. That's even if you don't place , you just need more than 12.9 lbs and in my book then you win the dinners.
I should also add you can't fishing 300 yards around my boat.
Oh yeah, if you don't weigh in more than 12.9 you buy me and databoy steak dinners

I didn't buy the boat to show off, I bought it because I like it. I guess the other 15 boats around must have followed you too. When theres only 2 spots to fish the whole system, where do you go? I fish where theres fish. And that was one of the most half a$$ ran tournaments I've ever seen. Where does all the money go? Into the owners pocket. Unaccurate scales, still have to pay for launch and breakfast. I would never fish a tourney there again. Lets fish on the miss where you can run 50 to a 100 miles in a day. Then we'll see whos taking who out for dinner.

Wow easy there Mike it's only fishing.
I'm sorry if I hit a nerve that wasn't my intentions. I was just trying to get you to one of the tourneys so I could buy you a steak dinner. I was postive you could catch more than 12.9 lbs.
and by the way that was my scale I paid $40.00 for that scale

Jeff,
Sorry....have to agree with Mike. You may want to check your scale as 12.10 is less than 12.9 as those read to the tenth of a pound! As for following you to your "spot", my experience fishing the Rock and Kosh since the early 80's really hasn't changed. When the lake bite is off, the river is usually good for a fish or two. Perhaps the other 15 boats drifting the mouth followed you too? As a final note on that tourney, I did enjoy it, talked to some great anglers, but man, it was quite interesting to see how the guy paid out. I certainly didn't fish it for the chance at a significant payback but I think he made out well regardless of the door prizes.
I am not dogging you buddy, just my opinion you may have taken a low blow at my bro. Having seen your posts eleswhere in the fishing world, I wonder what your sponsors might think?
Congrats on all your wins in the Thursday night tourneys. I would suspect you should do well since your home waters.
I do have a question as well....as a local guide on the Rock, is that considered a Federal Waterway and require a Captains License to legally guide?
Good luck the rest of the summer.

Scoob I'm not a local guide on the rock river, long ago like five years back I tried my guiding on the rock but that raised a lot of hair and I decide to not guide the rock anymore and that was about the time everyone on most of the rivers starting talking about capt lic class because angler started to complain about guide without capt lic if you remember or not. If you check out my web-site it has nothing about the rock river for guiding it say area waters and where I guide is lakes like Rock lake, Lake Ripely and some Madison lakes for mostly the handicap which I do it for free. I hope that anwsers your question sorry you were missed informed. Yes the rock river is federal water and yes you need a capt lic. Lets all move forward and quit taking blows at each other and post about good things. I'm sorry if you feel that was a low blow on your bro and your opinion is alway welcome but we all need to be careful what we post. Thank you and welcome to IDOQuote:

Good question on the scale, mine doesn't weigh in tenths of a pound but rather in ounces. I think the one they used is like mine (Rapala digital 50 lb. scale) so 10.9 would be ten pounds 9 ounces so 10.10 would beat 10.9.

I also have the same scale. Each 1/10 or.1 is equivalent to 1.6 ounces. Remeber 16 ounces=1 pound!! All tournament weights are done this way and in fact carried out to hundreths.

So I guess we took 2nd. How do we collect the rest of our money?

Maybe you didn't understand my point on the scale, it weighed in pounds and ounces, not pounds carried out to decimals - sorry you still tied for third.
