Caught this guy on Sunday, a solid 15-16"er......never seen one with stripes down the sides like this before? Anybody else?
On a related note.....This was my first time out trout fishing in a couple years, and fishing was.....GOOD!!! Felt nice to get off a high and muddy river back to some respectable water, where there are fish that will actually bite!!!

Must be from a previous injury. That fish looks bigger than 16" to me.

I agree with Jeremy. Looks like a scar to me. From what? Who knows.

In the summer months away from college I work for the Wisconsin DNR and we shock trout all summer. I have seen this many times in the past three years. Some type of bird went down to get a trout and its talons dug and but the fish got away. We have seen very old scars, scars at this stage, and also very fresh ones. This guy was lucky enough to escape from being a meal

id say it's from the fish rolling and getting burned by the line he was caught on or some other line in the water
