I will be heading over to the Green Bay area May 9th-11th and am looking for some advice.
I would like to try pulling Husky Jerks but would really like some insight into colors and size so I would not need to fill an entire box for the trip. We will be mainly targeting an area around the outlet of the Fox.
Of course any other insights would be greatly appreciated by a rookie to the bay.

Hello LittleFishy,
If I was going over there that weekend I would not count out pulling spinners. Smaller blades like # 4 and 5's. Pull spinners in perch pattern and also purple colors. Use spinner rigs that are set up for crawlers. Speed would be from .08 to 1.1 at the fastest. I am guessing you could get on a very good open water spinner bite.
As for pulling cranks you could use Husky Jerks in size from HJ 10's up to the 12's and 14's. I personally like the bigger ones. Big baits = big fish!
As for colors You will DEFINITLY need glass purple perch, and glass perch. Firetiger would be a very good option. These are always good colors there but you have to try colors to see what works. You can never go out with a preconcieved notion.
Also you could run some Storm thundersticks. Some good colors are Metallic purple/Black back, Mettallic Pink Scale, and prizmflash purple back. Good luck and let me know how you did. University Bay will be hot at this time but dont be afraid to search the bay and find big fish that are not being pressured.

I was there a few weeks ago and natural colors were the ticket!  we tried chartruese, orange, firetiger, perch with no success, 2 best colors were walleye and sucker. for what its worth... also you might wanna try further north, say menominee or sturgeon bay...

Do you guys run just mono this time of year or will fireline crystal be stealthy enough? If fireline, how long of a mono leader if any would you run?
