Any idea what opener will be like?

#670371 - 05/03/08 08:33 PM

Assuming the ice is off, I am considering opening on URL. I have not launched a boat is this body of water before and am wondering what to expect in terms of busy ramps, boat traffic and the like. What would be a good ramp for a rookie? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to some walleyes

Just make sure you know the boundaries. I've heard that can become a fiasco. Good Luck !!!

those out testing the water like Tylor have been doing great in 4-5 ft of water on the northe end, sounds about the same on the south end--just hope the wind doesnt blow and it will be a heck of a weekend for crappies

Make certain you confirm ramp. My latest Red lake map shows public ramps that do not exist any longer.

It will be light traffic and very good fishing. Right Suzuki?

Thanks for the info everyone! I am really looking forward to our trip. Any idea on what the percentage of keepers will be this year? If you catch 5 walleyes how many should you expect to be able to keep? I am guessing that there are a lot of 17"+ fish in the system right now...

Good luck to all on the opener!!!

One more day. We always focused on eyes but I would like to spend some time looking for crappies this trip. So much water. So little time.
