Has anyone had any significant success fishing in the morning on Leech this year? I went out on Saturday morning after reading all of the success people are having, and we only got 1 walleye. The perch bite was pretty good, but I didn't see anyone else catching walleyes either. We were up on Big hardwood - The Meadows - Little Hardwood - Star Point area. Later I talked to a guy who told me that the only time worth while is to fish in the evening on Leech. We went out Sunday night and slammed 'em in the exact same spots fishing with the same setup (1/4 Standup green fireball tipped with a shiner).
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for morning fishing, if you need to approach the same spots differently up there, or if I'm just bad at fishing! I've read a few people using rainbows and leeches, are they the ticket this time of year?

I think its more condition specific than anything else on Leech. If the wind is blowing in and the fish are there they will bite. Sunday was a great day to fish. I fished Battle point and did well. Although the wind died down at around noon and the fishing died, waited two hours wind picked up and it was hot again. Got off the lake just before the storm came in. Jigs and shiners in 10FOW my favorite way to fish.

I have found the day bite to be slow the evening has been much better even after dark. I did have a few days of a decent walleye bite during the day and as Bill said the point with the wind was going good, I fished that point today and the fish now have moved but they were all big slot fish. When we get warmer water I think the day bite will pick up especially on the sand. Water temp today 55 degrees.
