Wisconsin Trout Question

#678455 - 05/28/08 09:04 AM

A few years back I had gone trout fishing in Minnesota and really enjoyed it. However, where we went is too far away for me to drive on any given day without turning it into an all out fishing trip. Does anyone know of any good trout fishing locations in western Wisconsin, specifically around Polk and Burnett counties. I have heard rumors, but I can't find anyone at any bait shops that really know any good spots definitively. Thanks for any help.

Get a wisconsin trout Reg book, they have all the trout streams in map format for all counties, and list all the regs for each stream by county. Get the book and start crusing around and look at the streams. Here is a link to the book. Trout regs

The Rush and the Kinni are well-known trout rivers in the western part of the state. I spent MANY days on these waters during my fly fishing days. Polk and Burnett counties have quality small stream opportunities available, but many of those waters are held close to the vest, as a lot of water has to be covered (and eliminated) to find the quality streams.

Grab the trout regs and start exploring! You'll soon find some honey holes of your own.

Check out the north and south fork of the Clam River. There's other trout streams throughout the area, but many are small cricks and hard to fish. The Clam is bigger, deeper (especially this time of year) and easier to fish. But like the others mentioned, get a WDNR trout map and explore!
