I will be heading on up to gull this weekend with some family and looking to get a little good fishing action in. I have fished gull some in the past for walleye and have had some mixed results. I also would like to find a few crappies. Is the water temp cooler than it was this time last year? Any tips or suggestion would be helpful. Feel free to send a pm. O yea we will be staying at Causeways.
If you're in the causeway, you will probably catch crappies without leaving the dock! Gull has been a rollercoaster this year like other lakes, but generally quite good. Don't forget to talk to Dave and Jason at Sprotland Bait for the latest news. From what I'm hearing though, the bite is still solid on the northern third of the lake and fair elsewhere. This is great news for you though, you should not be traveling too far for fish. Coming out of the channel from Bar Harbor you will graph fish. If traffic is down, consider a nice slow bouncing jig all the way out to the main body. If traffic is busy, stay aff to the side and entertain yourself casting spinners or buzz baits to the docks. There are plenty of big bass and northerns in that channel You have lots of solid choices in the area for good fishing. Our preference has turned to focusing on one lake (Gull!) instead of jumping around too much Good luck cheers
I am also staying at causeway this weekend and looking for some good fishing. What kind of boat will you be in? I have a Lund Tyee. If you see me come and say hi and we can compare notes.
