I hope to make it out next weekend which is not going to help you much tomorrow. But one of the first things I might try on the yellows is to drift bait on a lindy rig and phelps floater on the west end of lake last year we did real good after the spawn doing this and also picked up a few bonus eyes.I hope this weather gives us a break every time I can fish its storming and when its nice I got to mow and other commitments.Next weekend I plan on camping for weekend and getting a early summer report

I fished Clear Lake last weekend. We ended up doing really well on the walleye. Jig and Minnow seemed to work the best for us. We fished the North shore in about 10-11 feet. Tried trolling for a little while but the live bait seemed to be the ticket for us. I know guys are picking up some nice fish pulling cranks. The funny thing is we did not catch a single Yellow the entire weekend. I thought that was weird. I saw a person catch a 46” Muskie right next to us. Wish he had put her back. Oh well, good luck if you make it out. The fishing should be good for a few more weeks.

Thanks for the report!! I will post tomorrow the more I hear live bait for #'s Cranks for quality I guess pretty typical. THanks again!

Fished Clear Lake on Friday, 6.20, seemed everyone was catching some fish. Worked the area along North shore, near the little hump. There were a number of boats in the area. Mostly lindy rig with minnows and leeches. We saw a boat anchored on the hump catch many fish, including their limit of walleye. I ended up with a limit of walleye, along with two crappie (one was very nice!). My boat partner did catch one yellow bass that was small.
We pulled cranks for a little bit and picked up three under size eyes. There were lots of fishing boats on the water at the various usual spots. I believe that there is good fishing at this time, as long as the weather holds. I did notice there were a lot of boats on the East side of the island.
Good luck to everyone. Today I need to mow the yard

I was hoping to get a full weekend on the water but when launching the boat I heard a noise coming from my wheel bearing on trailer. I went ahead and fished for 3hrs with not a whole lot of luck we pulled cranks and found a couple of nice yellows and a nice cat the last hour we fished in 12ft of water. I got off water early so I could fix my trailer but I hope to return soon

Sorry to hear about your trailer Joe. We made it over this morning and pulled cranks. Started off great with the first hit was a 18" in the boat. Caught some nice yellows in between some smaller walleyes. Had a nice one come unbuttoned at the boat, but that is fishing. Ended up with a couple nice eyes and some yellows. The wind came up mid morning and it was rough trolling. Got off the water around 1:00 pm. Water temp was around 71. Most of our walleyes bites was in 8-10 fow

I made it out for a couple hours of fishing on Sunday. The wind was something else out there. We caught our limit of walleye using Jigs and Minnows. The walleye’s are healthy looking. Most fish were in the 19” -15” range.
Here is a question for everyone. Is anybody else finding Zebra Mussels out on Clear Lake? Every time I have been out this year fishing and snagged some weeds, I have been finding Zebras on the weeds. I even found a floating glove in the water that I picked up. The entire glove was covered with Zebra mussels. I should have taken a picture of it before I threw it away. This is a scary situation. I knew they were in there, but did not realize they were getting so thick. Is anybody else finding these little pests?
One more weekend of great fishing before the Wild 4th of July celebration!

We went out Sunday morning and fought the wind. We caught 30 to 40 walleyes off the rock reef just off state park beach. Most were smaller, but we caught a bunch. A few yellows mixed in, but mainly 12 to 13 inch walleyes.

In regard to Zebra Mussels, just received a mailing from Iowa DNR that Clear Lake does in fact have zebra mussels. So everyone practice safe lifewell, etc.
