I was able to take advantage of the trolling bite on Lake Menomin this weekend while I was in town. I had good luck both long-lining and pulling leadcore in 11-13fow. I pulled Rap SR7’s, SR5’s, and size 5 Berkley Flicker Shads. Firetiger still seemed to be the ‘hot’ color with crawdad is a close second. Keeping your speed on the slower side (1.8-2.1mph) did the trick if you were looking for the Eye’s or Crappies. Going faster seemed to trigger more White bass and pike.

Those crappie are a blast when the trolling bite is going. Thanks for the report. There was quite a bit of grass floating around the lake Saturday. Once the flow settles down things should really take off.

Nice report, good to hear the troll bite is still going strong, you get a big crappie bite on cranks???? Thats awesome! I was on the Chip yesterday and it was very windy and slow, 14 fish 6 in the slot with the biggest being 17.5", gonna try again today.....

I wouldn't say a big crappie bite but this time of year it is an effective way to get crappies. We are usually targeting walleyes but end up with a mixed bag and some good rod bending action. Eyes, perch, crappies, bass and whites all in the same area. Last year I had a triple in the boat and landed three different species- walleye, smallie and a white.

Yup, I lost one of those big crappies at the boat during the ARM event, it was the only one we hooked. That is one nice multi species troll bite on this lake!
