Was up to Gavins PT, Springfield, and Verdel last weekend looking for water and boy was it down. The weekend before it was up 7foot and the next you can wade across the river.
Rumor has it the Fort Randell will start letting water out this week. Anybody know? I heard they are holding enough that the campground has water in it now. Lewis and Clark looked like it was down 4foot.
Spent last week on Lewis and Clark and thought the water looked awfully dirty. Don't spend much time up there, but the water sure didn't look right to me. Fishing was tough too.
I haven't heard what they plan to do but I'm headin up to Lewis and Clark to fish walleyes on Friday. I hope they don't have it too muddy again. The river has been up and down below the dam too. Lots of debris in the water. Be careful.

I fish the river up above Lewis and Clark mostly and its to the point now that there just isn't much left but mud to come down to the lake. They don't let anything out of Fort Randell to clean the river up and everything coming from the Niobrara river or any of the creeks has been mud. With what they let out at Gavins, nearly all the clean back water areas have been drained. As Gavins holds water back those have all filled back up with muddy water. Even Lake Yankton below the dam was dirty last Sunday.
It will take a while to clean things up and only water from Randell will do it. I just wondered if anybody knew when they might start releasing water up there?
Water releases are only going to cause problems down south. All that water from the flooding in IA is going to flood down South too. You can't imagine the amount of water in the Miss after it joins the Missouri at St. Louis. They are expierencing major flooding there now. We should be thankful that the SD reservoirs are holding back water. Oahe came up over 4 ft in the last few weeks. That amount of water coming into that lake would fill Big Mac in a couple of days. With the reservoirs up North full water releases will probably level out once the rainy season passes.
L&C Lake was very dirty this past week/weekend. The lake is pretty high. It was coming over the gates on Friday...granted it was pretty windy, but still.
