I have been fishing Menomin quite a bit but spending most of my time up the river. In the past 2 weeks I have been experimenting on the lake, fishing deep and shallow. Does the main lake have a healthy population of keeper bass? Most of the fish I am catching are shorts with an occasional keeper thrown in the mix.
Keep in mind that this post isn't meant to came across as asking for spots, that is the last thing I want!

A couple of good areas are boy scout island, Butch's bay, and the cattails along the northeast shoreline. When I fished more bass then I do now, those were good areas. Also you find that the river channel runs tight to the shoreline, a good place to cover depths quickly. I always did well throwing topwater baits. For smallies, try tossing some tubes next to the many cribs located out there. The best way to locate the cribs is to troll cranks!

Not being a bass guy anymore, but fishing other species we catch many smallies, and some largemouths. One thing I rarely see being done is jig and pig along the main lake rip rap nor tube jig fishing these same areas-another area rarely targeted is the 94 bridge region-loaded with smallies. This lake is loaded with nice bass, but think it is a few guys that have it figured out. Good luck and keep us posted.
