I am thinking about buying a stainless prop for my 03 Pro-V 1800 tiller with 90hp Yamaha 4-stroke. Right now with myself in the boat and gear I can only get about 35-36 mph out of it. Does anyone think I can get more top end with a stainless prop?
I am a little up in the air on which prop to get. I have heard good things about the high-5 prop for trolling forward but bad things that it doesn't have enough snuff when back trolling in large waves and you loose a little top end.
I have also heard that you don't get all the performance out of the Lund IPS hull unless you have a stainless prop. I'm debating between the high-5 and just a stainless 3-blade. What pitch 3-blade is everyone running? Any input will help. Thanks!

You will find that you get much better performance out of a stainless steel prop. I was running a 175_Tourny Pro tiller with a 90 Yammie on it. I switched over to a stainless and it was amazing the differance in performance that I noticed. Hole shot was better, top end was a little better, but I would not expect a ton more then what you are getting now. The biggest thing was that when I turned at top speed, I had no cavation. That was my driving fact to go stainless. I would turn at top speed, and the RPM's would go through the roof. I was running a Turbo prop on that boat and love it.

Remember not all SS props are not the same, each brand is unique to the model of prop, you can try 6 different brands of props and each one acts different.
With out knowing all the details, I would say 17p Yamy Pro Series.

Do these plug into a spark plug wire somehow or how are they wired to the motor?? I think I might run down to Cabela's tonight and grab on of those that Ted posted but I want to make sure I will be able to install the darn thing.

Here's the quick jist of the install for the sendec:
remove the engine cowling locate one spark plug wire wrap the sendec wire around the spark plug wire and tie wrap route/run the sendec wire out the engine throught the wiring bundle insert the sendec wire into the unit install the sendec tach at a location of your choice put the engine cowling back on and you are set
The sendec says it works on single cylinder and some twin cylinder motors. I want to put this on my 90 hp which is a four cylinder so I don't think this one will work. Back to the drawing board....
go to a dealership that sells your brand motor and ask them what it would cost for a tach say you have to intall it the should be able to gice the wiring diagrams that you need to put one in yourself.

SenDEC....looks like a neat little deal...if nothing else the hour meter will be real nice. I went and bought one of these on your suggestion. Is there different sizes? I didn't notice until I got home, it says it is for all single cylinder, and most two cylinder motors....I have three cylinders...might be a dumb question, but will this work for me
