Walleye's going deep, weeds starting to get thick, pleasure boats arriving in mass...
For me at least, this time of year is my worst fishing on the chain. The abundance of baitfish & boating pressure makes life more difficult to find a consistant bite (other than Becker lake)
Anyone have any good summer patterns they care to share?

I agree with you, the summer fishing is tough out there. I like the chain best in spring, fall & winter. You won't find me out there much now until fall because there are many other better choices in this area such as Koronis, Rice, Big Fish, Big Watab, Grand, Pearl, just to name a few. I like to stick close to home due to the cost of gas these days.
As for summer patterns, I have had some success throwing smaller size spinnerbaits or larger size beetle spins for bass. I fan cast the tops of the weeds in and around any cover, timber or shade. Slow trolling the deep weedline also might yield a few crappies, bass and pike. Walleyes are a mystery to me in the summer. I do fine spring, fall and winter but summer patterns are tough.
Good luck out there!
PS. The rainbow trout are biting on Big Watab!

seems like live bait (Minnows, Leeches) is the only way to get consistent bites right now...

Seems like I see a lot of boats from the highway fishing for the sunnies and crappies.. are they fished out yet?

sorry, only place I fish for Crappies/Sunnies is from my dock. I would imagine they bite pretty much year round though...
