I've been on Calhoun a few times lately. I had one day when I caught 5 decent bass 17-19" along with a few shorts. Had an accidental 7lb musky, and had a large ski (40"r?) on for a while. It finally jumped and threw my jig worm back at me. My last day on Calhoun was pretty slow for bass. Tried buzzbaiting early, early in the morning with no success, also tried a Bibbit frog with no luck. Did find a 17"r on a deeper underwater point later in the morning. That was the only bass for me that day. I did get a 23" eye and a 32" northern though.
Calhoun for me has been kind of tough this year. Usually, by now the deep weed line is pretty well defined, but not this year. Normally I check out distinct underwater points or pockets, and if you find one, you can pick off a few. This year it's been more like one here and one there. It seems to me that the bass are more spread out due to the sparser weed lines.
Water temp on wednesday was 73.7 degrees.

just remember guys, with the late spring, the lakes are about 2 weeks (give or take a few days) behind. so look for the post spawn pattern to go and mostly all short fish will be active, the pigs should be comming around here in the next week or so I am hoping.

With the wind yesterday, I opted to stay bed longer and catch up on some sleep. witth what the blowing, I think I made a good call. I did however make it out to a west metro (west of Minnewashka ) lake around six and ended getting into some very nice fish. We caught the fish in the 10-12 foot of water on drop-shots, mid-level cranks, texas rigged worms and roller jigs. The big fish on the day was 21'. We also caught 2 20' and a 18'. My buddy and I had a double on the 21 and 20. my camera died on me so no pictures. . I believe it is time for me to invest in a new one as this is the second time this camera has not held a battery charge. I have never seen two hogs like that in the boat at the same time.
I am still hoping to get out on calhoun soon. It's tood bad parking can be a challenge.

Parking down there does suck, but do not forget to fully charge the batteries.

No, actually I fished Lake of the Isles last week and had pretty good luck from shore catching bass and a few decent Northerns. Biggest being 30". I focused right along the channel that goes to Calhoun. Good Luck
