I went out this evening and did not get to see any gar......but the lure looked good!
This is the first video I did when I got my camera this winter and I was a little embarrassed of it but many people on Youtube have sent me messages asking for more videos and more info on using the lure so more will come but it takes time.
Thanks BK Always nice to see ya.

The only areas I personally have had luck going after gar were sand flats, confluences, and backwaters near heavy current. Gar are opportunistic feeders so most of the time they will need the lure place right by their eye. Sight fishing is the easiest way to catch them but when aggressive they will move a lot for their food.

Thank you very much for this video. I have tried velcro before because I heard that works but it looked like crap in the water. This really looks like somthing. I see many gar when Im bowfishing and would love to try and catch one. One Last thing has anyone ever used this rope lure on a fly rod?
Most of the time I have used it I see a gar for not long and cast to intercept it but that is not always the case. Sometimes you will see gar surfacing but if the sun is out or there is dirty water it is difficult to sight fish at that point. Even when sight fishing there are a lot of casts involved. A couple weeks ago I was trying out my buddies technique for tehm using a plain hook and minnow because they were so tuned into what they were eating anything else was tough to get a bite and it still took me around 15 casts once I saw a gar to get a bite. They are not that aggressive they are more of a predator of opportunity not ambush.

Never sight fished for gar, always just caught them on cut bait while fishing for cats.
