Rapid Marine St. Cloud

#687847 - 06/28/08 02:20 AM

I hope this doesn't get dusted... I called Rapid Marine in St. Cloud this week on Wed and asked them if they could get my boat in to replace a bilge pump and fix some other minor things that I don't have time to fix. I asked if I could drop it off the same day and still have it back by Friday to go fishing on Saturday. The parts/service guy said "no problem". I then asked him for a rough estimate for what the repairs I wanted done was going to cost. He quoted me a price.

Friday I called them in the early afternoon and asked if my boat was done. He said "yup, come and get it". I showed up at around 5 on Friday and the service guy told me there was a mess up regarding what I wanted done but that it was all taken care of. I learned that the mech had replaced both livewell pumps instead of the bilge. He found his mistake before I picked the boat up, corrected it and replaced BOTH bilge pumps before I got there. The kicker of the whole deal is the bill was actually $40+ bucks less than what the service guy quoted me. So I got both my bilge pumps replaced and both my livewell pumps (livewell pumps and one bilge for free) for $40 dollars less than he quoted me the first time. $40 bucks isn't a big deal but we hear so many bad reports about dealerships that I thought I should post this to point out that once in a while, the dealership does the right thing. This is the 3rd time I've had service work done by this dealer so I'm guessing it's not a fluke.

I've had very good luck with them also. Had some minor service work done, and bought some parts there. Their sales people are very nice to talk to, even if you are just "looking" . I give them a big .

Great to hear that some dealers do the small things right.

Rapid Marine is St Cloud is also the dealership I go through. They do a VERY good job and I highly recommend them. Very good people to work with and they seem to be very honest.

That is good to hear! I had an an experience last year with Art Olson of Farm Island Repair & Marine (FIRM) in Aitkin. The day before the Wacker last year, I lunched a rock during a guide trip, and he sent a prop over to the East side of the lake for me to use during the tournament. He also repaired it and had it ready for my next tournament a week later! And they also replaced the whole windshield to a newer model! Things like that are what keeps people coming back! Even though I live in Hastings, it's a good bet that FIRM gets the business for my next new boat.

I have worked with some of the Rapid guys at the sports shows...all class acts as well.

My buddy does service work for them and there is a good chance he is the one working on your boat. Lets just say he gets plenty of calls from me asking for help on my boat outside of his work environment. He definitely knows what he is doing. In the last year, I know he has driven to Lake Winnie and Mille Lacs to repair boats for customers! All other repair shops would make you bring the boat in, right?
