I looked at it and went with the Navco ethernet expansion port $149.99. I tied 4 units together and get a great sonar picture and can choose from different transducers. I haven't seen how good the Broadband Sounder picture is but I couldn't see the added cost, and if you want to hook it up to multiple units you need the expansion port I installed anyway. I have heard that the Broadband Sounder picture is like HD TV, but would have to see both side by side to know for sure. Guess it gets down to how much and what kind of fishing you do to justify the extra cost of the Broadband Sounder.

I'll let you know soon as I work the other bugs out of my setup! ATM I am not hugely impressed and Lowrance was pretty lean on how to operate with it. I mean pretty much plug and play, no hints, tricks included to get the most out of it.
A picture is worth a 1000 words, so here is one with
the Broadband sounder in action. There are no tricks
to using it. Plug it in and it works. Use the sonar
setting as before, on automatic or your on adjustments.
will show excellent bottom separation that normal sonar
will not. Will hold the bottom at most any speed.Ever
priced a 3kw tranducer? Your are getting 3.75kw out of
the LBS for $600, not $3000. Is it worth the money. That's
up to the buyer, it is to me.
(this picture was much bigger when I first posted it)

So far we have gotten some pretty good feedback on the Broadband sounder. It is pretty spendy but if you have a larger budget to work with it appears to be well worth the cost. We've had no complaints yet.
thanks guys i saw the previous pictures and it looked awsome but now that its been out for awhile now and really no neg. feedbacks when i become rich and infamous i'll get one thanks again Steve
This is really not a problem, but in really shallow water, maybe three feet or less, it's not going to work very well. Five feet is ok. It may even work in less but I have not tried but a few times, but that's alot of KW power for such shallow water. Best to turn off the LBS at this point and use the standard sonar/transducer.
