On board charger, one bank going belly up

#687966 - 06/28/08 10:00 PM

Have a Dual Pro Charger, 2 banks, 15 amps each. Has been in boat for 6 years. One bank works intermittently. Know I have to replace it, was thinking of purchasing a 3 bank so starting battery will also be charged.

Here's the problem. How do I remove the Dual Pro? I have a Lund 1775 ProV, the charger is mounted on the port side of the rod locker in it's own little box area. I see six cross tip heads, I can turn one and nothing happens it just spins, can't turn the other five. Don't know if it's a striped out screw or bolt with a nut. There doesn't seem to be a way behind the charger without taking half the boat apart. Sure hope they didn't bolt it in before the floor was installed, that would not be good! Is there a cover on the charger that comes off, giving me access behind it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Dual Pro has fantastic customer service, contact them about rebuilding your currant one OR upgrading to a three bank charger. I think it costs me $75 to upgrade mine when it finally went out.

Are you sure that it is the charger? I thought that one bank was going out of mine a couple of years ago and turned out to be the battery going bad. Might want to switch the batteries around first to be sure that it is the charger.
