cranks on sale?

#689355 - 07/04/08 02:14 PM

With the summer only half over I have burned through most of my favorite crankbaits. Has anyone seen any sales/deals on Shad Raps or Flicker Shads?

I've actually heard rumblings of the Flickers being no longer available, and they're gone. I hope this isn't true. Anyone have any info on this?

Not true Brian, Scheels has several in stock for $1.99. I only bought $200 worth a few weeks back.

Joes Sporting Goods had several bins of Flickers on sale late last week.

All right guys, thanks to my good friend Jerr (who forwarded me a link to The Next Bite) I have the info on these Flickers. Here's what Gary Parsons had to say about it.

Guys, Guys, Guys. Berkley did not quit producing the Flicker Shad. They
raised the prices about $1.50 and Bass Pro and Cabelas buyers thought
they were too expensive and didn't purchase any because they thought
that the consumer wouldn't pay $4.00 to $4.50. In my book, they catch
fish so well and are still two bucks less than a Shad Rap so it's a no
brainer. Fleet Farm, and I believe Scheels and Gander will still have
them. Also, raise hell with your local Bass Pro and Cabelas and email
their corporate offices and demand this bait back. After all the consumer
rules.

As far as the Static Shad, I've got a ton of experience with them. They
are not Flicker Shads. They have a wilder action, do not dive as deep,
and cannot be trolled over 2.4 miles per hour, and are very hard to tune.
That being said there are times and places that they rock and catch alot
of fish, just not as versatile and "action on" as the Flicker Shads. If you
do use the Statics, buy the size 6... the smaller, the larger has too wide
of action and is a better Bass bait.

By the way, both Chase and I used Flicker Shads to capture two more top
tens at the PWT Championship. They've been very instrumental in a
record breaking season that notched 6 top tens out of 7 tournaments.

I'd try Dan's method of reattachment, if it doesn't work I'd chuck the
broken bait.

Hope this helps. Cheers.
