Moore's July Cat Contest

#689496 - 07/06/08 07:14 AM

I know this is a late post, but our next contest is this coming Saturday (July 12th), between the hours of 7:00 pm and 6:00 am Sunday morning.
This as always is a catch phot and release contest, with a photo to be submitted to this post by 8:00 am Monday morning for consideration. The control item to be used will be given out later this week.
The entry fee is $10.00 with all but $1.00 of the entry fee given to the top two places for both Channels and Flatheads....
The boundries of the contest are from the trussel bridge in Carver to the confluence on the MN river. The Mississippi river is pools 1 & 2, or from the ccon rapids damn down stream to the Hastings damn. On the St.Croix, the bounderies are from the Arcola Soo Line bridge at river mile 28.5 down stream to Prescott.
All in land rules apply for all bounderies where only one line can be used at a time for this contest.

Lets be safe out there next week and good luck.

Because you never know and because if I don't submit it now, Tuesday I'll have a moment.

24X15

Yes it is a flat and not only was he dark, he had some bad BO. At least I blamed it on the fish when Steve asked if I thought the fish smelt. It was worse when he gave us a door prize in the form of a half digested perch. I made him eat it, because I care. Either that or Steve is going to find a nice surprise in a crevice of his boat the next time he goes out.

The results are in from this past weekends cat contest. It was a windy one out there, put some people were able to work thru it and put some fish in the boat. Though the bite was tough with all the latest weather patterns recently, one could tell by the number of fish caught that the spawn was over, and good things are yet to come. I am not sure about others but cut shad was the producer for our boat. We also used suckers but they spent more time gumming them than anything else.

It was a teriffic turn out, and a nice nice to be out. Thanks to all that particapated, and hope we can do this again next month.

Below are the results, and I hope that some will tell their stories of how it went for them.

Flatheads-
1st place Big Z with a 44 1/2 x 33 1/2 52 lbs
2nd place Mike V with a 35 x 22

Channel Cats-
1st place Flaco651 with a 31 x 16
2nd place (tie) catnip- 27 x 15
Mike V- 27 x 15

prize money-
1st- $91.80
2nd- $61.20

Thanks again to all, and hope youu will make it out again next month.......

Congrats Mates to the winners and all who participated
It was a tough night with the wind in some areas.
We boated a couple channels, and we had to work to get those ones.
Best turn out yet from the sounds of it. Looking forward to the next one.

Everywhere you look there are signs of fishing. Due, in part, to the fact you don't think about much else.

Here is catnipmn's Channel 27 x 15. We had a great time out there on the minnesota river. We boated 3 Flats and 9 Channels 5 sheepheads and 6 or 7 misses. The ones that we boated weren't big but we did have lots of action. I did boat a bigger channel but it was 10 mins. to 7. and that ain't fair. But it was fun and my partner did get a tie to second place twice now. We also spent 12 hours out there Saturday night and Sunday morning. We didn't get home until 7 in the morning. I hope that there was a good time had by all. Here are a couple of the bigger ones that I caught. There is a 25 x 15 flat and 25.5 x 13 channel.

Don't plan on it. This is the best boat for up to shakape fishing. But not much further. So what boat are you in. I seen alot of boats out there. Where you the ones sleeping in the boat when we were leaving? With the bimini top up? Stop and say hi next time.
