Was able to sneak out last night post work and hit the local lake to pull some cranks. It seems most people must have gotten their boating fill as I had the lake pretty much to myself all evening. Unlike the last trip, it took a little while to find fish, which can be typical for this lake due to the roaming nature of fishing flats. On the night 11 walleyes were caught ranging from 13 to 22 inches. #5 firetiger shad rap was the clear winner and for the first night in a long time the flicker shad was a dud--much like the Menomonie firework display(lasted 15 minutes). Fish were found in 12-13FOW and trolling speed as 2.5mph with 120 feet of 4lb diameter spiderwire stealth. As the evening progressed, the #7 rap in clown was the hot crank (80 ft). Once again, I forgot the camera and livebait, so no spinner rigs, but based on the success of last use, I will be trying them again.

last time out the fish moved shallower on me, up into 8ft. I haven't been in that 12 to 13ft range for awhile. 22 incher, thats a nice fish. Doc, your going to have to take a camera man out with you!

Unfortunately, the camera is somewhere in the house after the 4th of July trip and has not been put back in the boat.

Woody and I snuck out last night, other than 4 short fish and a handful of whitebass there is nothing to report. All walleyes came on spinner rigs and nothing on cranks but the whitebass. One thing learned is those shakey blades can not handle 2.5 mph  We did not mark near as many fish in the areas that were very consistant, which tells me that high pressure systems are very good at changing fish location.

Fleet farm has thier Raps on sale. Not a good selection of bent lips though.

I have a new appreciation for those bent lips after catching walleyes in 2fow on the Mississippi during the high water.

Went to the boat north landing Saturday to fish, took one look at the pea soup and went to the Chip instead. Had good luck on small eyes and SM bass. Menomin will have to wait till next spring as we nailed the walleyes on sunday on Wissota on Crawlers and slip rigs on the bottom.
