Just curious the NE forum has been pretty empty lately and I have been living and getting my fix of fishing off the reports lately due to coaching reasons and haven't been able to get out at all this year yet Anyone been out at all?

Welcome aboard!
You know, I haven't heard one thing at all about night fishing at Elwood this year. This will be the first year in many that I won't make it over to night fish Elwood, too. The night thing is usually wrapping up right abou now over there, and I bet that'll hold true with the water temp as high as it is right now. You're right, it was real slow last year and was a real struggle. I think it was not only because of the low water, but also for the fact that it's pretty much turned from being an alewife fishery to a shad fishery, so things are changing (or already have). Was over there last week during the day and trolled up only one walleye. All fish were at 18-22 FOW over deep water. Really thought I'd do better once I got my cranks in the zone.

So, Brian, how is the new boat working out? Is it easier to fish out of; more room, etc.
Lots of boats at night at Sherman. I haven't been out yet but may try this weekend. I keep backing away from it thinking that I am getting too old. The next day is just a bummer.

Hey Jorg!
Ya, the Crestliner is workin out pretty well. I can really tell it's not the 1850 I had last year and it's a bit smaller, but it still works. The 60 Merc seems to be doing well on gas, and that goes a long way these days. I think it's a little easier to fish out, for me, as you have no consoles to move around and I have control over everything sitting in the 'control center' in back. Lots of room, although I might have to change the location of my rod rack. Having a nice wide open boat is kinda nice though.
I work nights, so night fishing is sorta natural for me anyway. Although I can tell you when I got home this am, I passed out real hard. I know I wasn't tired from reeling in too many fish, but at least we got a few here and there. We wanted to go fish some flatheads a little bit too, but with them spawning and the current just ripping thru the canal right now, we'll give em a short break.
