Is it safe to fish devils lake during the duck hunting opener? I'm trying to plan a trip and it looks like that is the only weekend that will work with everyone...

Why not fish and hunt at the same time . we did that up-north about ten years ago and had to decide between the nice walleyes and the ducks dive bombing our deeks, what a morning we ended up with a limit of each

While Devils Lake is hailed as a major duck hunting factory, the lake is so big that you will not run into many hunters at all. In fact, most duck hunting in the area will be on potholes and fields surrounding the lake. Virtually no one will be on the main lake.

PS, I assume you are referring to Devils Lake in ND!
