Finally a great day after the big wind this weekend.
The family is up for the week and we are balancing all water activities including a few short bass trips between skiing, tubing, swiming...
My son, Jack (8), and I put 6 in the boat after a couple hours work in the shallow rocks.
Zoom Super Flukes did the trick. We've been experimenting with adding lead to the lure to help with sinking, it seems the weight doesn't hinder the catch and makes the fishing more efficient not waiting for the lure to hit the bottom.
We had a few hits on topwater, but didn't work it very hard as the other was catching them on the Flukes.
Jack got 3 and I got 3 today. Here he is holding the two 19" fish we got today.
Thanks for the great comments everyone, he was just as excited to see the comments from our report this morning. Soon we'll have him posting his own reports.
I was out on monday, and could see lots of fish where I was at, but they would not bite! I managed to get one 19 incher early in the morning, but that was it.
I saw some big walleyes cruising the shallow rocks also. Surprised me at first. I suppose they had been up in the shallows eating the past few windy days.

JT Fish,
I've had some of the same behavior. That was Tuesday I believe and the morning trip was slow, but the evening bite just before sunset was the best with 3 fish in 30-45 Min.
My wife and I just got in from a 2.5 hour trip. We must have seen 25 - 35 fish lurking around. We threw all kinds of stuff at them and they just wouldn't take it. We did get three, 12", 14" 17" and then finally just before coming in I got a 19.5" fish. While reeling it in there were lots of trailers, at one time 4 bass were right behind the one I had on.
This is all pretty new to me, so I'm not sure how to explain their behavior. But I have found that once they are hungry watch out, it's game on.
When I was out on monday I used everything I had in the boat, even went and got live bait, which I don't do bass fishing, but it was driving me nuts. Leeches, crawlers, tubes - various colors and scents, top water, crankbaits, spinners, the fish were just on intereseted at all.
Great report Brad and I'm glad Jack showed you how to catch some smallies! The pictures are priceless! Now we need to get that boy out trolling in the open basin to catch some real fish!
