Spent the morning on my favorite East Metro lake. The action wasn't fast and furious but steady steady for quite a while. As usual I was using the flyrod. Most of these fish were caught using topwaters but several were found along the weedline. Todays's experiment was with a leech imitation they use in Alaska, an "articulated bunny leech". It's made of rabbit fur and two hooks tied in tandom. I thought it looked great and the Bass agreed. I can't wait to throw one of these flies at a Mille Lacs Smallmouth. I was targeting the back edges of the weed clumps, docks, and harder bottom areas. The sunfish are still spawning and you can find the occasional Bass cruising along chasing these sunfish. Watch for the distrurbances right up tight to the shoreline. It's really exciting to see the V-shaped wake of a 20 inch Largemouth heading towards your fly.
Great day to be on the water, I wait all year for these hot days when the Bass get wound up.

My bro and I got out this morning around 6 and where greated with some mild temps and overcast skied. What more can you ask for in August. We knew that we where going to have be off the lake by 1130 so we hit our high percentage spots and they did not disappoint. We ended up only getting to two of our spots because there was no other reason to move to another place. Both spots had the same characteristics: adjacent to deep water and sporatic GREEN weeds. The depths was from 12-18". We caught a few fish on t-rigged worms and small cranks but the go to bait was the drop shot rig with a 5'yum stick worm. once we hit some of the weeds, we would shake it and then let it sit. Most of the time the fish just them. I would like to say that I caught the majority of the fish but thast was definatly not the case as my brother beat...no whoop me in the fish count. I believe when the day ended he was catching at least 5:1. I think at one time he caught ten straight. oh well, it was still fun to see him lay into them and the fight that pursued. The two big fish of the day was 20.5 and a 19.5. The other 25-30 fish we pretty much cookie cutter 18". (can you realy have cookie cutter 18"s??? ) If you remember what I sai above about the catch ratio you can see that I only caught 5-7 fish all day.
Rootski, I believe I was on the same lake as your post above, hence the reason for the post here. What a lake!
