It's been more 30 years since I went to Canada last (we fished near Kenora on the English River) and we are trying to arrange a trip for 4-6 people.
Any recommendations of where to go - we'll be targetting Walleyes and Northern.
thanks in advance

May I suggest Winoga Lodge in Sioux Lookout, ON. I have been going there every year since 1996. We haul our own boats up there and have a great fishing experience. The owners, Dick and Jeannine Mansfield are from Elk River, MN and run a tremendous resort. Their website is www.winoga.com Good, honest hard working people.

Thanks for the Link - I just requested more information. Looks like a nice place - and fishing I would imagine is great like you say!

Dick knows where the fish are and will show you exactly where and how to nail them. We only fish for walleyes, but just for fun, sometimes we'll go deep (70+ feet deep) and look for big trout (30"+). Once in a while we'll hit an eelpout or a whitefish. It's all fun.

I just returned from a week long trip to Lac De Mille Lacs. The fishing was excellent. If you're after walleye and pike, this is a good lake. The average size pike up there must be close to 27" (slot limit says anything under 28" must go back). The walleye fishing was excellent as well. I normally fish bass, but the walleyes were hitting rattl'in raps like bass. It was alot of fun. We stayed at Cushing Lake Resort. Cushing lake is about 500 acres and the big lake is accessible via a channel. Here's a link to the webpage: http://www.cushinglakeresort.com.

This is a heads up DO NOT GO TO PINE SUNSET RESORT you will be disappointed they make you pay up front charge you 100 bucks deposit for the boat and WILL find something wrong. They dont get up before 8 so dont ask to go fishing early. They will not help you they are way to busy counting the money you paid in advance. The fishing was good we caught a lot of walleyes cant keep any over 18 slot no problem with that. The she man who runs the camp would get pissed off if you kept a 17 inch fish perfectly legal but they wanted you to keep 12 inchers. Have been treated rudely before but not at that expense. 2 thumbs down

I have been going to a resort by the name of Mahkwa on the central part of Lac Seul for a good number of years and had great fishing for eye's. Though we do not normally target northern when we have caught several very nice ones. The staff at the resort is always helpful and they offer several options for your stay from fully guided with meals to bring your own boat and fend for yourself. The draw back is that it's a long haul and once you are through Hudson the road is gravel for about 20 miles. We think the rough road is worth the fishing at the other end, lots of them and we've gotten eye's up to 29 1/2. The resort has a web site you can google and get all the details if your interested. Oh did I mention there is some really good small mouth fishing also.
