pool 14 tues. night

The bite continues to be good on pool 14 , I took my wife and boy out for a few hours tonight we landed 10 walleyes with 5 in the slot. I had a hawg right to the boat late that broke off . It looked at least 28inches. I would of sure liked to take her picture. Most of are fish came on jigs with a few on a 3-way. All baited with crawlers. What a pleasant evening for July. The water muddied up a little bit, but it did not seem to effect the bite much.

I also made it out in the evening and boated 12 eyes, two at 22-24", two shorts, the rest 16-19". Fish where really concentrated on the channel edge, taken mostly on a Dubuque rig with leech or crawler. About half the fish came on the dropper, the other half on the spinner. Sure was a beautiful evening!

Sounds like you had a great time catching them eye's. Are you having problems with a lot of grass? Seems like someone is mowing the river in Beaver Island,I thinks it is coming from all the barge.

Yep, lots of grass coming down the channel as well. With the constant rise and fall of the river all the shallow flats in the pool above let loose the grass. It will probably be bad from time to time right through fall. The grass is the big reason I went with a 3-way presentation instead of pitching jigs. Could not keep the jig in the strike zone very long without grass grabbing the line and dragging it up and down stream. Still a great evening on the water.

I didn't have that good of luck today (Wednesday) as you had Tuesday night. I caught 4 and kept 2. Lot of catfish. I was using crawlers on jig head or Dubuque rig. I had no luck on wingdams. I drifted flats.

Have a great day.

I pitch the jigs parallel to the front face of the dam and lift and drop the jig down the face. Most of the fish are in the trough in front of the dam. If they are real active some fish will be right on the top . You can go to a light jig and work it on the top , but casting cranks to the top is an easier way to target the fish . Most of the really big fish will come off the top in low light. I hope this helps.
