So have you ever wondered.....
Contrary to popular belief some of the biggest fish and biggest bucks are harvested at times not considered as "Prime-Time".
As a fishing guide you pay road tax on gas for your guide boat, yet farmers legally waive gas tax on thier work rigs?
Internet is having more appeal to children than the great outdoors???
Even with heat seeking, fast tipped, no stretch, wide gapped, long shanked, lightly scented, rattling, glowing, globally positioning, alarm ringing secrets of fishing you can still go out and not limit out immediately???
Have you ever did the math on how much water it take to raise Rainy Lake's 220,000 acres of water 2 feet.
Have you ever wondered the reasoning in the modern day of cell phones and 70mph jet propelled boats the usage of a simple whistle tucked in a back compartment of your boat "OH hang on guys yes that missle is heading directly for me I'm gonna give him two quick blasts with this whistle when I find it???
In the day of lifelike tackle why a purple beer can with spinner blades can possibly catch fish???
Why you are reading my mindless bantering instead of working???
LOL!!!!

I (re)did the math: 143,374,628,496 gallons to raise Rainy Lake 2 feet. And I do have too much time on my hands right now.
Now watch some math teacher tell me the answer is wrong
From wiki answers: 1 acre is 6,272,640 square inches. Since you want to cover it one inch deep you need 6,272,640 cubic inches of water. There are 231 cubic inches in a gallon. So divide 6,272,640 by 231 and you get 27,154.2857 gallons!
27154.2857 x 24 x 220,000 = 143,374,628,496

not to be nit picky but would it be: 2,562,352,941 gallons?
my math: 220,000 acres 43,560 sq. ft/acre = 9583200000 sq. ft.
9583200000 sq. ft x 2 ft. high = 19166400000 cubic ft.
there is 7.48 gallons in one cubic ft.
19166400000 cubic ft. / 7.48 gallons per cubic ft. = 2,562,352,941 gallons
umm yeah 2,562,352,941 yeah yeah (rainman)

Hey Boys,
Yep had off til mid-day. Went out for a 4 hour half day trip and did pretty well. Found the fish up in 15-20 f.o.w. on a rock ledge. Caught 30 walleyes. H20 jig with a 1/3 of a crawler threaded on. Missed plenty, but caught some too! Nice 8lb pike also!!
Gotta love Rainy!!!

So, I haven't thought about Rainy, but I have about Lake Oahe. It's a massive reservoir that in the spring of 98 was at it's highest levels ever. Three years ago the lake bottom out at it's lowest point since flooding the reservoir.
At it's lowest point, the lake was approximately 200,000 acres. At normal level, about 300k. So think about that, 100,000 surface acres of water. Then drop the lake level some 50 feet. That's a butt load of water.
OK. It's obviously Friday.
