Aside from not using a net at all, do you guys have any tips on how to keep muskies from wrapping themselves up in your muskie net?
It seems more often than not, my fish end up wrapping themselves and the lure up in the net making it very diffucult to make a speedy release. I usually end up cutting hooks, which is fine but it would still go faster if this didn't happen.
Any technique or equipment suggestions would be very appreciated.
I think the type of netting is really important. I like to use that stiffer rubber coated net and keep it low in the water. It's really hard for a fish to wrap in it and the hooks dont go through it very easily either. You can buy an aftermarket replacement net for your net frame pretty cheap too.
Other than that, just talk nice to them

I find cradle nets work great, the fish can't roll up in them. But it is a 2 man operation, 1 holding the cradle while the other is removing the hooks.
