Red Rock 7/23

#694824 - 07/24/08 09:52 PM

A buddy and I fished Red Rock and Roberts Creek yesterday. Caught a dozen or so white bass, we just couldnt get anything going on them with the water being high still. Ended up trolling crappies in 20fow with tube jigs. Started out slow, but by the end we cleaned 27 and released 20. We kept 2 fish at 9 inches, the first two we caught, then drew a 10 inch minimum. Most fish were 11, with 5 coming it right at 12 inches. Normally wouldnt keep that many fish, but my buddy is heading out on the road for work, and wanted to have a fish fry before he left. A day later, all the fillets are gone! Johns son is shown in the picture, he got out of bed to come see all the fish when we got home. I think he was even more excited than us.

Nice report Nick. I've never fished Red Rock. I'd love to give it a try sometime. How clear/dirty was the water? I would love to be fishing the coralville res in my backyard but it's so dirty the visibility is terrible. maybe it doesn't matter as much as I think it does. Thanks!
