I forgot to post this earlier, my dad caught a 30' Flathead Catfish off the dock a few weeks ago. I didn't know Flatheads were stocked on the Horseshoe chain? Maybe this was a transplant from an outside lake?
Very interesting! Did you get any pics? I know flatheads have been caught in some of the Twin City lakes over the years, including Minnetonka. I've always wondered where these fish come from. My guess is accidental DNR stocking.
I'll see about getting a pic from my parents. Funny story, my dad had a bobber rod setup on the dock and while we were on shore we heard the drag go and looked and saw the rod bent completely over, when we got to it, the line snapped, the next day he caught the fish and the old hook and leader was still in it's jaw.
Turns out this might not be a Flathead, but instead an oddly colored male Channel Cat according to some posters on roughfish.com...we may never know for sure...
