Grindstone is clear and deep with no shortage of rock. I fish deeper rock and boulders with good success at this time of year. Have fun and let us know how you did!

Grindstone is an awesome smallmouth lake. I was up there 3 or 4 years ago for a small club tournament and whacked the crap out of em on a pumpkinseed chompers dropshot worm. I think I had about a 3 pound average but I lost a fish boatside that I still have nightmares about. He came to the boat relatively easy after my partner said I had a musky on, saw the boat and freaked. I loosened the drag just a little bit so he wouldn't break me off and to tire him out and he nearly stripped the spool clean. I got the fish worked back to the boat pretty easy and he came up, swam along the side of the boat did a 90º turn and the hook just popped out. It would have had no problem hitting 7 pounds. no bull

most of the smallies I caught came out of 20 FOW or so. Fish the rockbars and the adjacent deep flats around that depth and you'll find them. Keep a close eye on the locator and if you see fish, they are probably smallmouth. drop your worm straight down and hang on

The bass on g-stone are very large and very cooperative. They respond well to suspending cranks-husky jerks or pointer minnows. They can also be caught on a nice sucker minnow under a slip if you desire.A good lake map will point you to rock bars and offshore reefs they haunt.
Good luck!

thanks for all the info guys. unfortunatly, the wind was blowing strong. it was hard to keep the boat where you wanted it. there was a good sized tourny that launched before us too. i had 1 smallie follow to the boat, and my partner got two smallies and a rock bass.

i also put a good bend on the prop blades, it's at the prop shop right now.

thanks again for the info, maybe next time i go will be better.
