Just was daydreaming and wondering if anyone has tried using fiddlers ( small channel cats ) for bait? What would be the difference bullheads.... fiddlers?

I think a flathead will smack just about anything that swims- channels included. wonder if you could use small flatheads for bait? That's a brain twister.

If you can use flatheads for bait, I bet they will count against your daily/possession limits. The same would be true with panfish and bullheads.

When we commercial fished for catfish, we'd find many 3-5lb channel cats that'd been eaten while hooked on the setline. Not sure why, but they seemed to stay from sheepshead.
Bluegills, bullheads, cutbait and small stripers worked very well. Oh, and dead clams...I can't explain that one either...

I believe one of the studies out there says flatheads up to 10 pounds feed more on crayfish and clams, than fish. Or at least they made up a better portion of their diet.

So the moral is stay away from crayfish and clams for big flats.
