lowrance waypoint sharing

#699906 - 08/13/08 07:39 AM

I have a LCX-27c and LMS-520c networked together and have waypoint sharing enabled on both units. When I first networked them together, I could see the existing waypoints on both units. I added some new ones on the 27 while fishing, and they are not visible on the 520. Anybody see this before, and if so, what do you need to do to fix it?

First I would make sure that the "Waypoint Sharing" feature

is selected on both units.

With an active Map page:

MENU
MENU
NMEA 2000
Waypoint Sharing

If you had to do a reset it may not be selected.

Also make sure both units are on as the waypoint is essentially created simultaneously on all the units active on the network.

I didn't have the bow unit turned on when I saved the waypoints. So, you have to have both units on for that to work? I thought the object of the waypoint sharing was that you could see any waypoints that were stored on another unit that is on the network. IMO, that kind of defeats the purpose of sharing waypoints if you can't see them unless the unit is on when it is saved on the other unit. I only have the bow unit on when I'm using it. Guess I'll have to turn it on every time out. That stinks.

I quit using the waypoint sharing feature when I went to name my first shared waypoint and it remained "001" on the other two units.

I'm not going to spend the time to name the same waypoint on all of my units.

If you name the waypoint at the time of creation it will transfer that name to the other units, provided they are powered on and the waypoint sharing feature has been enabled.
If you forget or do a Quick Save then you will have to edit the name on each unit.

I believe the answer to that is No.
